IEEE Power & Energy Society (Thailand) will host the world-class IEEE International Smart Cities Conference as the first time in Thailand and ASEAN.
IEEE Power & Energy Society (Thailand) announced to host the 10th IEEE International Smart Cities Conference (IEEE-ISC2-2024), the world-class smart city exhibition for the first time in Thailand and ASEAN under the theme “Smart Cities: Revolution for Mankind”.
Experts, researchers, and smart city developers around the world are gathered in this event to discuss the guideline for smart cities development in the future. It also includes academic conferences and exhibition about advance technology and innovation for smart cities development.
Wilas Chaloeysat, chairman of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (Thailand) and governor of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), said that smart city technology has become a main guideline for urban development around the world as it elevates convenience and safety for life and asset, solves traffic jam, enhances the energy efficiency, lessen environmental issues and creates a new business direction in accordance with the current situation and the future.
This move has encouraged Thailand to turn several areas – both large and small cities – to be smart cities that conform to local context.
The event will take place during 29th October – 1st November 2024 at Royal Cliff Grand Pattaya, Chonburi.
This is the first time for this conference to be held in ASEAN after it was held annually in different countries in Europe and the United States.
Assoc. Prof. Dr Nopbhorn Leeprechanon, IEEE PES vice chair meeting and conference, said: “To host the IEEE International Smart Cities Conference is the world’s significant smart city-related conference as it is an international academic and exhibition that features experts and researchers from the global organization to discuss and exchange their knowledge and experiences about the development of smart cities".
Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, president of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), said: “TCEB is extending its full support to the 10th IEEE International Smart Cities Conference hosted by IEEE Smart Cities and IEEE PES Thailand. We strongly believe that this event will create invaluable economic and social impacts as well as significant legacy for Pattaya, EEC, Thailand, and smart cities development ecosystem globally”.
The IEEE ISC2 2024 aligns well with the Thai government’s Ignite Thailand vision for smart cities development. It is also in line with TCEB’ s focused industries where it promotes flagship events related to urban quality of life and mobility as a catalyst for Thailand’s move towards innovation-driven economy.
