The Bangkok Journal is a group of professional business journalists, who have worked for decades with Thailand’s leading newspapers. Through our career, we experienced to cover insightful stories in both the private and government sectors, with a strong commitment to bring out the truth to our readers, without bias, along with sharp criticism and analysis. Of course, some readers were both happy and unhappy with our articles. But for us, it is our duty to reflect reality to society.

 

But unfortunately the print industry we worked is facing a significant fall, threatened by digital media. So far, newspaper companies have suffered from financial hardship and many went out of business. Also, the platform we enjoyed with journalistic freedom via news pages is not the same as we’ve known, based on journalism principle, ethics and responsibility.

 

However, the rise of digital media gives us a hope of having an own platform to continue our journalism promise. Then, The Bangkok Journal was launched in September, 2022, with slogan “the Mirror of the Truth”, to follow such a promise.

 

Even it’s a small media outlet, our ambition is big. Being free from corporate influence over news ideas is a boon for us. That means we are given a full freedom to keep our journalism principle, with sharp business reporting irregularities in the corporate and government sectors to our readers. One more promise is we attempt to cover stories ignored by the mainstream media and carry out analysis via our professional eyes and our collective news sources as specialists from different industries in order to give readers multiple dimensions of the story.
