Nestlé (Thai) and its subsidiary companies have partnered with the Thai Coffee Farmers Association to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU), aimed at supporting coffee farmers in Thailand.

As part of this collaboration, Nestlé will purchase coffee beans from Thai coffee farmers during the 2024/2025 production season at fair prices that align with global market prices. Nestlé will also share knowledge about sustainable coffee farming practices, focusing on regenerative agriculture, to enhance production efficiency and improve coffee quality. This initiative will help increase the incomes of coffee farmers and improve their quality of life.

Salinla Seehaphan, the company's corporate affairs director, said, “This MoU reflects Nestlé and NESCAFÉ's longstanding commitment to supporting Thai coffee farmers. For over 50 years, Nestlé has proudly purchased Robusta coffee beans directly from Thai farmers at fair prices based on global market prices. This enduring partnership not only ensures farmers have a reliable market for their supply but also improves their livelihoods, allowing us to continue producing high-quality coffee under the NESCAFÉ brand to meet consumer demand.”

Nestlé will also provide educational and training programs for coffee farmers on regenerative agriculture, which aims to increase both the quantity and quality of coffee production while restoring coffee plantation ecosystems and protecting the environment, enabling farmers to better adapt to climate change. The company will also continue its research and development programs on different varieties of coffee plantlets to ensure coffee farmers have access to high-yielding, quality varieties.

Wisa Poolsirirat, governor of Chumphon province, said that Chumphon is the number one producer of Robusta coffee in Thailand, with over 57,729 rai of coffee plantations and 2,074 coffee farming households, according to Chumphon province coffee production data in 2023.

"I am delighted to witness the signing of this MoU, which will enhance the confidence of our coffee farmers to grow high-quality coffee that meets market demand. This aligns with our province’s policy to develop Chumphon to become a ‘Robusta Metropolis,’ recognized both domestically and internationally,” she said.
