At the same time, it plans to increase VietJet Air flights for Chiang Mai-Phuket-Chiang Mai to 10-12 flights per day in the fourth quarter of this year, from current 7-8 flights per day.

In addition to domestic market, the company is also looking at opening new route into Bumbai, India for the first time in the fourth quarter of this year.

At present, VietJet Air provides over 100 flights in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan, China and Japan. Of the total, 60% of flights are for domestic market. It has three flights to Taiwan and 15 routes in China including in Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou. It plans to open more new routes to Japan next year.

In addition to new routes, the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc (CP Foods) to co-develop ready-to-eat dishes for Vietjet’s travelers both domestic and abroad.

Mr Pinyot said that in an initial step, five ready-to-eat dishes including chicken green curry rice, chicken noodles, chicken basil rice, teriyaki chicken rice, and vegetarian fried rice, prepared by CP Foods’ chefs, will be available on Vietjet’s Sky Café at over 50 routes across Asia including Thailand, Taiwan, China, Cambodia and Japan from August 5, 2024.

For price, it is set between 120-150 baht. Five dishes will be available for six months and more dishes from light meal, haral food and vegetarian food will be developed to fit with more travelers from China, Middle East and India.

Supara Sriboon, sales director - food service business at CP Foods, said that the co-operation with VietJet Air will be for one year in short term plan and three years for long term plan. The company expects sales of over 10 million baht from this partnership this year. The move will be a part of driving sales of its B2B business in Thailand to grow by 15-20% this year from last year of 10 billion baht.

CP Foods has provided raw materials for hotels, restaurants, catering, factories via B2B business for long time and it would like to expand more ready-to-eat food to various channels.

Mr Pinyot adds that this partnership underscores its commitment to enhance the travel experience with innovative and superior meal options that aim to set new benchmarks in in-flight cuisine.
