Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin chaired the opening of “Bangkok Pride Festival 2024” while TAT expected the event would help to boost the Thai tourism industry.

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced that visitors from around the world are invited to celebrate Pride Month in Thailand this June.

Events are being scheduled in several Thai destinations in celebration of gender diversity as Thailand moves closer to become the first country in Southeast Asia to legally recognize same-sex marriage.

Chiang Mai kicked off the month-long celebration with the “Chiang Mai Colourful Pride Month 2024” scheduled from 26 May to 30 June. The parade took place on 26 May, and until the end of June, activities will include sports competitions, concerts, and seminars.

In Bangkok, the main event – “Bangkok Pride Festival 2024” – was held under the theme “Celebration of Love” from 31 May to 4 June. Activities include forums, concerts and Drag festivals.

The parade will take place on 1 June, starting from 15.00 Hrs., from the National Stadium to Ratchaprasong Intersection at centralwOrld.

Also in Bangkok, ONESIAM is organising “The Celebration: Right to Love” from 31 May to 30 June at its five experiential destinations – Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, ICONSIAM and Siam Premium Outlets Bangkok. 

On Koh Samui, Surat Thani, the “Pride Nation Samui International Festival” under the theme “Let’s Join PRIDEradise” is scheduled on 24-29 June 2024.

The Pride parade and music festival will take place on 29 June at Chaweng Beach.

Also on 29 June, the “Discover Phuket PRIDE 2024” will take place at the Phuket Old Town area, with the parade scheduled to start at 17.00 Hrs.

Agoda also promotes “Bangkok Pride Festival 2024” to sponsor 350,000 baht to honeymoon couples.

With the marriage equality bill receiving support from a majority of Thailand’s parliament earlier this year, it is widely expected to come into effect some time in 2024.

Marriage equality is the main theme of the upcoming Bangkok Pride event, of which Agoda is the Official Online Travel Partner. The honeymoon sponsorship fits within Agoda’s message for this year’s pride: ‘Bridging the world with pride’.

Agoda CEO Omri Morgenshtern said the couple will be invited to select a round trip to the destination of their choice with an all-in value of up to 350,000 baht. They will be able to choose from over four million holiday properties worldwide, 130,000 flight routes, and thousands of activities on Agoda’s platform.

Agoda will announce the mechanics of how the honeymoon will be awarded after the legislative change has been fully approved.

Agoda recently announced its partnership with Bangkok Pride, becoming the organization’s Official Online Travel Partner. It is proof of Agoda’s ongoing support for the LGBTQIA+ community, both internally and outside of the organization.

The 2024 event will be held on Saturday 1 June and consists of educational, cultural, and festive events, including the annual parade. Agoda will be one of the official participants of the parade.
