EECO signed a memorandum of understanding with related agencies to protect human rights among entrepreneurs in the areas.
Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand and Burapha University to promote human rights among related agencies and entrepreneurs for doing businesses in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
Three agencies will help promote better practice and improve more efficiency on human rights among entrepreneurs in the EEC.
Tachaphol Kanjamakul, EECO's deputy secretary general, said the MoU is an important tool among three agencies to seek cooperation among entrepreneurs and related parties to promote and respect to human rights, as well as to conduct researches on human rights; human resource development to strengthen Thai competitiveness on investment.
“The cooperation to build a network for human right collaboration will be established in order to promote entrepreneurs on responsibility to society and sustainable development,” he said.
The EECO has just opened “A Centre of Woman Empowerment Network '' at Tambon Nong Pla Lai, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi.
Chula Sukmanop, EECO's secretary-general, said the centre is a pilot project of the EECO to support the community especially among women to produce products and services, considered as a supply chain of the industrial development in the EEC.

“The EEC will support a Centre of Woman Empowerment Network to develop their local wisdom, assist them to produce products for commercial purpose, to upgrade local tourism, and protect the environment. The project is aimed to generate more income to the community,” Mr Chula said.
Currently, Tambon Nong Pla Lai preserves 19 rai of rice farming and the community has established a learning centre of rice growing. They have also introduced agriculture tourism routes where the visitors can learn how to grow rice and cook local menus with the use of raw material from the community.
