Central Pattana Plc (CPN), the operator of Central shopping centers, is investing 600 million baht to launch the summer campaign this year.
Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, CPN ‘s chief marketing officer, said that the company will join hands with leading partners and private sectors, as well as more than 3,000 popular brands to create a new dimension of summer experience, where customers can enjoy a huge number of special events and great promotions.

‘Summer Wonderest 2024’ was launched at Central shopping centers nationwide from 7 March 2024 to 19 May 2024. This is part of Central Pattan’s strategy to push forward and spur Thailand’s economy and tourism during the first half of 2024. This campaign helps fulfil the reputation of Central shopping centers as ‘the world’s best summer destination’, fulfilling all lifestyle needs in one destination.
He adds that Thailand’s Songkran Festival 2024 will be held at Central shopping centers nationwide to help highlight Songkran in Thailand to be listed in the top-ten world-class festivals that people from all over the world are eager to visit.
“Central Pattana and our partners in the government and private sectors are joining together to push forward the economy and ‘tourism ecosystem’ of our country,’’ Mr Nattakit said.
According to the tourism sector, there were over 28 million foreign tourists visiting Thailand in 2023, which generated a total income of 2 trillion baht. Thailand became a champion – with the most foreign visitors in ASEAN. The government has set the target number of foreign tourists for 2024 to reach 35 million, with more than 3 trillion baht in cash flow expected throughout the year.
According to the latest update on Thai tourism (from January to February 2024), the cumulative total of tourists entering Thailand was almost 6 million, with the top five foreign tourists as Chinese tourists (who resumed first position due to visa exemption measures), followed by Malaysians, Russians, South Koreans and Indians, generating over 290 billion baht in income for the country, and with continued overall Thai tourism growth, the tourism sector is likely to recover by 100%.
In its campaign, it presents a new dimension of summer experience that fulfils all lifestyle needs for every community. The company is offering the most wonderful summer experience through summer festive events and will spur spending with exclusive promotions from the company’s strong partners in order to highlight Central shopping centers nationwide as number one summer landmarks throughout this campaign.
“We have seen positive signals from the peak tourism season and long holidays, where people visit their hometowns and enjoy travel around Thailand. It is expected that Central customer traffic will increase by 20-30%,“ he said.
Mr Nattakit added that thanks to the strength of having shopping centers in every region across the country. CPN highlight and add local essence in its creativity throughout Thailand, reflecting the image of the local area, as well as expanding opportunities for sales channels for local SMEs and adding channels to stimulate cash circulation, and distributing income at all levels – from communities to regional business groups.
The company will hold over 1,000 local Thai festive events nationwide throughout the campaign, such as ‘Thai Rhythm Songkran Fest 2024’ at centralwOrld, ‘Beach Summer Fashion X Signature Cabaret Show’ at Central Pattaya and ‘Royal Project Afternoon Tea’ at Central Rama 3. This is in line with the trend of Thai tourism in 2024 as it is believed that ‘event tourism’ (event-based tourism) is up and coming, playing a role in helping push forward the economy of the city and community, as well as creating new experiences for tourists – in particular, the Songkran festival.
“We support the government policy to highlight Thailand’s Songkran as a world-class festival. and ‘Thailand’s Songkran Festival 2024’ at Central shopping centers throughout Thailand will be the grandest world’s best culturetainment,” he said.
