Muji, the globally-renowned Japanese lifestyle brand, has opened its first branch in the southern region at Central Hatyai shopping complex by the middle of this month.
Muji ‘s Central Hatyai is its 35th branch in Thailand and the first in the South.
Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, chief marketing officer for Central Pattana Plc, said that Songkhla is a key player in Thai-Malaysian border trade, solidifying its position as the economic hub of the region. The introduction of the first Muji in the South at Central Hatyai further underscores the city's potential as a prominent landmark for both Thai and international tourists, particularly those from neighboring countries such as Malaysia.
Songkhla province boasts the largest economy in the South, with a gross provincial product (GPP) of 243 million baht and a per capita income of approximately 145,000 baht per person per year, considering its current population of 1.43 million. Ranking as the 14th largest economic city nationwide and the foremost in the South.
Muji Central Hatyai embodies Muji’s original concept: simple, natural, and infused with a touch of Japanese culture, creating a warm atmosphere. The well-organized store showcases over 3,000 Muji products, providing a diverse selection for customers.
The store begins with the clothing and apparel section, allowing customers to experience Muji’s versatile and mix-and-match basic style clothing. The highlight is the spring/summer 2024 collection, showcasing linen in various styles and colors.
For the home and furniture section, it offers essential items for every part of the home, including the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room. The selection includes cleaning supplies, multi-purpose boxes for organization, and minimalist-designed electrical appliances and home furnishings.
While the stationery and office section caters to students and office workers, with prices starting at just ten baht. For travel enthusiasts, the must-visit Muji to Go section provides essential items for all types of travel. Also, it offers a range of products for the face, body, and hair, including makeup, cosmetics, and aromatherapy fragrances made with natural ingredients and free of chemicals.
In addition, Muji provides snacks and ready-to-eat food section from Japan such as baumkuchen cake, chocolate-covered strawberries, dorayaki pancakes, dried herring, and more. Muji Coffee Corner is now open at Central Hatyai, serving a variety of coffees and other beverages, as well as a selection of Japanese-style cakes and desserts.
