EXIM Thailand, ADB and JICA collaboratively support syndicated loan of 3.9 billion baht for EA Group’s E-Bus procurement in Bangkok and surrounding areas.

Dr. Rak Vorrakitpokatorn, president of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), Mr. Amorn Sapthaweekul, deputy chief executive officer of Energy Absolute Plc. (EA), Mr. Daniel Wiedmer, director of Private Sector Infrastructure Finance Division 2, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Mr. Keiichiro Nakazawa, special assistant to the President, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), recently celebrated the successful collaboration of EXIM Thailand, ADB, and JICA in providing joint financial support totaling 3.9 billion baht to the EA Group.

This funding aims to facilitate the procurement of up to 1,200 electric buses (e-buses) to operate in Bangkok and its vicinity, replacing internal combustion engine buses to reduce air and noise pollution in public transportation, promote the use of clean energy while elevating the people’s quality of life and public health.

This financial support aims to promote the production and sale of public buses using clean energy, reduce the consumption of oil and imports of fuel from abroad, decrease air pollution, and encourage the development of renewable energy, transportation systems, and infrastructure in Thailand.

This aligns with the government’s 30@30 policy, promoting electric vehicles (EVs) with a target of producing zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) comprising at least 30% of all vehicle production by 2030 and EXIM Thailand’s strategy to elevate Thai businesses towards a green economy (end to end net zero economy escalator). This coincides with Thailand’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% in 2030.
