CHANGAN, Chinese EV manufacturing, breaks ground for a brand new CHANGAN Thailand EV manufacturing base at WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 4
Mr. Pajongwit Pongsivapai, chief operation officer of WHA Industrial Development PLC along with executives recently presented a congratulatory bouquet to Mr. Wang Hui (the fourth from right), vice president of CHANGAN Automobile, during CHANGAN Thailand manufacturing base groundbreaking ceremony at WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 4, Rayong province.
This manufacturing plant spans across 250 Rai and is aimed to serve as a right-hand drive EV production hub, encompassing key production processes including welding, assembly, engine manufacturing, paint shop, and battery assembly.
In its initial phase, the plant is designed to have a capacity of approximately 100,000 cars per year, with production scheduled to begin early 2025. There are plans to expand its capacity to 200,000 units per year in the future phase.
CHANGAN Automobile, one of the top four Chinese EV brands, has placed its trust in WHA to establish a state-of-the-art high-technology manufacturing facility in Southeast Asia, positioning itself to compete in the right-hand drive EV market in Thailand, ASEAN, and global market.
