Bangchak and Royal Thai Air Force to jointly develop SAF for military aircraft.
Thamarat Paryoonsuk, senior executive vice president, Refinery Business Group, and Kanthamat Kritayanukul, executive vice president, Refinery and Logistics Business Group, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited recently led the team at the first 2023 meeting of the committee for the study of the suitability of low-carbon Bio-Jet for military aircraft with the Royal Thai Air Force, and Rajamangala University of Technology Isan (RMUTI) under the research support of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) at Don Muang Royal Thai Air Force Base.
The meeting was chaired by Air Vice Marshall Jukkrawat Jongsuebsook, Director of Military Aviation Authority.
The committee established guidelines for future collaboration following the successful conclusion of the study on the suitability of using Low-Carbon Aircraft Bio-Jet fuel in conjunction with the Air Force's JP-8 aircraft fuel at a 2% blending ratio, of which the tests were conducted on both Jet Start and Engine Test engines.
The next step will be further testing of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) with Air Force aircraft.
