BCPG kicks off the construction of ASEAN’s largest wind farm in Laos with financial package from Asian Development Bank

Agreement signed with Laos’ government and Power Purchase Agreement signed with EVN, have also been effective.
The agreements led to the first loan drawdown to fully commence the construction of the wind power project, which is planned to be complete and start commercially operating with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) within 2025 under 25-year power purchase agreement.
“The Monsoon Wind Project is a significant net-zero goal booster from 2025 to 2050 by saving over 750,000 tons of greenhouse gas per year. The project also plays crucial role in leveraging livelihood of people in the vicinity, as well as enhancing economic growth of Vietnam and ASEAN countries”, said Mr Niwat.
The Monsoon Wind Project is not only the largest wind farm in ASEAN but also the region’s first cross-border wind power project to supply electricity from Laos to Vietnam through 500kV transmission line.
The ASEAN’s largest wind farm is a partnership among BCPG Public Company Limited, ACEN Renewables International Pte. Ltd., Diamond Generating Asia, Limited (a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation), Impact Electron Siam Co., Limited, STP&I Public Company Limited, and SMP Consultation Sole Company Limited.
