Cabinet gives a green light to boost tourism with 3.9 billion baht.
Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the cabinet approved a 3.9-billion-baht budget for two projects to help boost tourism industry. Of the total, 2 billion baht will be spent on the fifth phase of “We Travel Together” and remaining 1.93 billion baht spent on tourism industry promotion.
He said the fifth phase of "We Travel Together" will continue to offer a 40% subsidy on hotel rooms to domestic tourists, totaling 560,000 room nights, along with providing a voucher worth 600 baht per night for food and shopping. The project will kick off from this February to September this year, aimed at pumping 12.53 billion baht into the economy.

The government started the first phase of “We Travel Together” on July 15, 2020, partly as the stimulus policy from its effort to promote local tourism. The program has been warmly welcomed by the tourists and following phases were launched. Its fourth phase ended on September 30, 2022 from starting on Sept 30,2022.
Mr Anucha said the second project of 1.93 billion baht is aimed to boost both domestic and foreign arrivals via tourism activity, especially spent on soft power, digital market, and marketing promotional campaigns from February to September nationwide. Hopefully, it will help boost the country’s tourism revenue to achieve 2.38 trillion baht as projected.

In a separate development, the cabinet approved a 7.5 billion baht budget to subsidize power bills among electricity users who use less than 300 units a month from January to April this year. In total, the government has allocated 18.3 billion baht to assist electricity users, which included during May to August, and September to December 2022.
