Sony Entertainment and Amazon Falls planned to develop the second phase of indoor metaverse.

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Amazon Falls planned to develop the second phase of indoor metaverse on the same location of the first phase after the opening-to the public-of the world’s first fully-branded Columbia Pictures movie theme park, Columbia Pictures Aquaverse this October 12, 2022.

The theme park is located 20 minutes south of Pattaya in Bangsaray, Chon Buri area home to 5-star beach resorts, seafood restaurant and tourist attractions which is the location in the Eastern Economic Corridor.

Extensive and fresh design and theming with new rides and attractions will bring to life characters from some of the biggest and most beloved movies, including Ghostbusters, Jumamji, Bad Boys, Zombieland, the Emoji Movie, Surfs Up and Hotel Transylvania.

Mr Liakat Dhanji, CEO and Chairman of Amazon Falls Co, owners and operators of Columbia Pictures’s Aquaverse said the second phase is on the process of a design and other dimensions with fully support of using high technology of Sony Entertainment.

“The indoor metaverse will be located in the same area of the movie theme park but we could not reveal details of the project.” he said

He showed confidence for the investment in EEC because key infrastructure projects of The high-speed rail project linking Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang and U-tapao airports which take only 30 minutes from Bangkok to Pattaya, and U Tapao Aviation City which can facilitate for foreign investors from worldwide.

The project with one billion baht of investment is projected to hire directly to 1,000 Thai people and an estimation to generate 10 billion baht this year from additional one million foreign visitors to Thailand.

He said the company planned to promote the project among alliances including airlines, tourism operators and TAT which have overseas offices in worldwide.

Tourism Authority of Thailand(TAT) projected 10 million foreign visitors to Thailand this year, up to 30 million visitors next year while there were nearly 40 million foreign visitors in 2019.

Mr Kanit Sangsubhan, special adviser to the EEC Office, said “We are proud to welcome and commit to give our full support to Sony Picture and Amazon Falls which is poised to set new standards for immersive entertainment in the EEC.

He said the project is going to play a key role in reshaping the growth dynamism in EEC. The theme park will be a key component in EEC smart city development plan, and EEC will provide full support, including 5G services and other infrastructure, digital technology, transit links, and partnership with clean energy and investment promotion package to ensure success of the project and help to create a long-term sustainable development in the EEC.

Mr Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications of TAT said the Thai government implemented the campaign, Visit Thailand Year 2022-2023: Amazing New Chapter” which is aimed to stimulate growth in the tourism industry after the pandemic.

He said the agency has 29 overseas offices and 45 regional offices throughout Thailand are working to boost tourism. The agency also discussed to airlines to attract visitors in the coming high season between this October to December.
